We needed to practice this new procedure.
At mat time a teacher read the Fire Safety book and we all sang along with 'Get Out, Stay Out! Well Done!'
Most children already knew what to do and where the safe assembly area was. Then we turned on the fire alarm, it was very loud.
The teachers collected the roll, medicines, telephone and led the children out the front door to the assembly point, where they sat down quietly while the roll was called. A teacher explained the importance of raising their hand and calling our "yes" clearly, while other teachers did a head count. The children followed the instructions very well and the whole procedure went smoothly.
In the afternoon a teacher led another evacuation practice, this time going out the side gate. This was also successful with everyone knowing exactly what to do. Well done everyone!
