Matariki, the Maori New Year is a time of coming together to share stories, plant new harvests and eat kai. To mark the start of Matariki, children harvested our manderins that have been growing in our back garden. We invited our Beachcomber families to come to kindergarten dressed in their pyjamas and share toast, manderins and hot drinks for breakfast. A food bank was set up at reception for staff and families to donate breakfast items, our chosen charity was the Salvation Army. One of our families delivered the donated items. Thank you to all who donated.
